I was in Switzerland for last week’s solar eclipse, but left home without my lens filters or eclipse glasses. While in Zurich I managed to find a camera store that still had glasses and solar lens film for my camera in stock. The queue was down the street outside Photo Vision Zumstein, as it was only a couple of days until the eclipse, and I believe they were the only store in the city with solar eclipse glasses left.
I was staying in the mountains near Interlaken on the day of the eclipse, and the area was not suitable to view it as the mountains would have blocked the view. With the help of the Sun Seeker app and Google, I found a spot on Lake Thun where there would hopefully be a clear view of the setting sun. It turned out that the view was partially blocked by a tree, so I ended up waist deep in the lake with my camera to get the shot. It was risky, but I got clear of the tree and I didn’t drop my camera! Here are a three of my favourite photos.
