I was recently commissioned to photograph an advertising campaign for a corporate client in London. The brief was to shoot real members of staff at work and out and about in the City.
During the pre-shoot meeting, we had a conference call with the design team who are based in the client’s head office in the U.S.A to ensure we were all on the same page. It was agreed that the images needed to look as natural as possible, and that the company’s offices and surrounding area would be used as locations as the focus was on genuine employees, not models. There were five people to photograph in different situations, one for each advert. The company logo is red, so an element of that colour was needed in each image.
Fortunately, on the day of the shoot the weather was on our side, so we were able to shoot outside as well as in. Here are the two outdoor photos which were used.
The indoor images needed to show interaction, so a couple of meeting scenarios were staged as well as a further image of someone discussing work at their desk with a colleague. I made use of the ambient light to keep the portraits looking natural, and supplemented this with portable flash & light modifiers to ensure the subjects were well lit.
Here are a few of the advertisements from the campaign which ran in magazines in the UK as well as online.
